Delaware has its own daily video newscast! Please select your viewing preference: Not sure which one to use? Read on...

Finally! Delaware has its own daily video newscast, and it comes from the award-winning staff of WDEL 1150AM News. Why just read or hear about Delaware news? Now you can watch Delaware news on your computer, on your time. We want to make Delaware Video News available to as many of you as possible, and so we've provided the following links to help you have the best possible web video viewing experience.

To watch Delaware Video News now, please select the link below that best describes your situation:

In all cases but the last, Windows Media Player version 9 or higher is required. It can be downloaded for free here.

If you have a Macintosh computer or prefer to use QuickTime, you'll need QuickTime version 7.0.4 or higher. It can be downloaded for free here.

We also recommend closing any other graphic- or processor-intensive programs on your computer while watching. If you have cookies enabled on your computer, your streaming preference will be remembered the next time you view Delaware Video News.

Please note that if you choose a stream that is larger than your computer or internet connection can handle, you may experience slideshow-like pictures with sound, or buffering for long periods of time before video begins to play and possibly during playback.

Our video uses "streaming" technology to start transmitting video almost as soon as it is requested, rather than waiting for the complete video file to download. If the video stream pauses, it is probably due to Internet traffic congestion, a slow modem connection, or insufficient computer hardware. If a pause persists, it is recommended that you restart the video or choose a lower stream.

Because high speed connections can vary depending upon traffic on the internet, even with a high speed connection and a fast computer, you may still experience buffering and breaks in the video presentation. Keep in mind that streaming video requires large amounts of bandwidth. The average high speed Cable or DSL connection during normal internet traffic times should be sufficient to provide you with a good viewing experience, but during high traffic times on your network or the internet your viewing experience can vary. Also note that if you're running multiple programs on your computer at the same time you attempt to stream video, the computer may have difficulty multi-tasking and cause breaks and drops in the video presentation.

What about firewalls?
Some organizations and Internet Service Providers filter or block video transmission. If you cannot get video transmission (even when your system meets the basic computer and software requirements), you may want to contact your Internet Service Provider or Network Administrator to see whether its security firewall is intentionally or unintentionally blocking video transmission. For further information, please see service.real.com/firewall/ or www.microsoft.com/Windows/windowsmedia/en/serve/, which provide useful information to both users and firewall administrators.

Why am I still seeing yesterday's newscast?
Depending on your computer's settings, you may still see an old newscast, even if we've posted a new one on our site. This is due to the old newscast being stuck in your web browser's cache. Clearing your cache will fix this problem. The process for clearing your cache varies by browser and version, but if you are using Internet Explorer 6:

  • From the "Tools" option in the menu, select "Internet Options..."
  • Under the "General" tab, in the "Temporary Internet files" section, click the "Delete Files..." button.
  • In the window that pops up, leave the "Delete all offline content" box unchecked, and click OK.

You can also set your browser to always download the latest versions of files instead of viewing cached files, so that you don't need to do this whenever you view the newscast. To do that in Internet Explorer 6:

  • From the "Tools" option in the menu, select "Internet Options..."
  • Under the "General" tab, in the "Temporary Internet files" section, click the "Settings..." button.
  • At the top of the window that pops up, where it says "Check for newer versions of stored pages:", select the option for "Every visit to the page", and click OK.
